Gap near start of music playback [#21501]
Hi, I'm using MMA 2.0.1.1214 on Android 15, October update, on a Pixel 8 Pro, syncing with MMW5 5.1.0.2832 on Windows 11.
I'm not sure if it's related to the recent update to Android 15, but over the last week my MMA will on seemingly random files play a short half second clip of a chosen song (or the next song in a playlist), break play for about the same length of time, then resume playing unhindered. At times it has done it with two consecutive songs, then might not do it again for a number of songs. The files play fine on my PC, and can often be played again on MMA without issue.
The only thing that I can confirm that has changed on my phone recently is the update to Android 15, so I can only guess that it may be causing some sort of issue for how MMA is accessing files.
I haven't sent in any logs, but next time it happens I'll be sure to submit a log report.

Re: Gap near start of music playback
I've noticed the same exact issue on my Pixel 7a since the Android 15 update. Every other song begins to play, then a slight half second of silence, then the same song continues to play. It's very annoying. At first I thought it was Bluetooth doing that, but then I noticed the same issue during playback from the phone itself. Have you gotten any updates from MM on how to fix?
Re: Gap near start of music playback
Nah, nothing yet. I hope they're working on it. I'll be curious to see if other players (DoubleTwist, AIMP etc) have the same issue.
Re: Gap near start of music playback
We haven't observed this, but I'll try to replicate on a Pixel 7.
If you observe the issue, can you submit a debug log (MMA Menu > Help > Send logs) and share the log ID here?
Thanks!

Re: Gap near start of music playback
I've put in a few logs for my Pixel 8 Pro. If my email is tied to the logs then it'll be under djt6012 @ gmail.com
I've just done a test with DoubleTwist and AIMP and the issue hasn't occured.
A very similar issue I get is while playing audio and adding subsequent tracks to the queue then the same break in audio occurs.

Re: Gap near start of music playback
The issue seems to be related to Android 15.
Changing "Audio transitions" from Gapless to None in Options/Playback/Audio solves the issue.

Re: Gap near start of music playback
That seems to have alleviated the issue. Hopefully it's something that can be fully resolved in the other Transition options.martin.bohac さんが書きました: ↑水 12 18, 2024 3:28 am The issue seems to be related to Android 15.

It's strange how it affects it when queuing up more tracks, which otherwise shouldn't involve gapless playback.
Re: Gap near start of music playback
Thanks for the workaround @martin.bohac.
On my Pixel 7a, also Android 15, the problem was not a gap but complete silence while the scrubber bar keeps advancing. Sometimes it only happens for the second track played, other times it seems to happen with each (or many) new tracks. I was getting around it by selecting the Prev Track button on my steering wheel; the track would then restart audibly.
I just sent log L2Z97E49GH which I hope captures whatever MMW was doing at the time.

Re: Gap near start of music playback
Good day all,
I just made a similar in this thread (viewtopic.php?p=525481#p525481) but I'll add my experiences here as well.
I was experiencing the same issue in Android 15 with "Gapeless" enabled that doney6012 describes (1sec pauses at beginning of successive tracks) and now after a recent Android update, progressing to the issue mcow describes (successive tracks very often will play completely silent).
This problem of successive silent tracks exists with the most current version of GrapheneOS (Build 2025020500; Android 15). I'm running MediaMonkey Pro Android v2.0.3.1226 installed on a brand new Pixel 9 Pro. Music was freshly synced over wifi from a Windows 10 install of MediaMonkey Pro v4.1.31.1919. This problem exists on a new Pixel 9 [non-pro] as well with the above-mentioned software setup and versions.
Specifically, most track transitions while "gapless" is enabled results in silence once the next track begins. If the track is stop/started or if I manually seek into the track, the audio usually returns. Setting transitions to "None" or "Crossfade" prevent the issue; each in their own way.
P.S. I didn't have this problem with my previous phone running LineageOS 20 however I believe that release is based on Android 13.
-Cheers
P.P.S. edit: Manually jumping back/forth between tracks or setting playback mode to "shuffle" seems to bypass this issue as well.

Re: Gap near start of music playback
Hi,
We haven't been able to replicate this, but we believe that this issue is specific to certain files. i.e. if it occurs, it'll occur consistently with a given pair of files and if it doesn't occur with a pair of files, it'll consistently not occur.
Does that match your experience?
If so, would you be able to share the first and second file with which the bug consistently occurs?

Re: Gap near start of music playback
fyi, this is partially fixed (we're still working on another case it which it can occur) in beta build 2.0.4.1227.
To test out the beta build:
- in MMA, tap Options > About | Register for test builds.
Once registered, your next update will be to the current MMA beta. To update immediately, go to MediaMonkey in the Play store and tap 'Update'.
We expect it to be fully fixed this week.

Re: Gap near start of music playback
UPDATE:
A full fix is in 2.0.4.1229 which was submitted to the Play Store as a Beta earlier today (approval normally takes 1-2 days). To test out the beta tap Options > About | Register for test builds. Or wait a few more days for the official release.
In the meantime, the workaround is to disable Options > Playback > Audio transitions > Gapless.
-Rusty
EDIT: replaced by 2.0.4.1230
Update: build 1230 has been approved by Google and is now available to all Beta testers. We expect it to become available to all other users in a couple of days.
